The PlayStation 4 released about 5 years ago and it has been a glorious 5 years for the system. Maybe it was the fact that Microsoft completely ruined the release of their own device. Here are some highlights of that terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year for Microsoft’s Xbox division:

  • The Xbox One would require a persistent internet connection.
  • The Xbox One wouldn’t play used games – you’d put in a disc, install it to the console’s hard drive, take out the disc and it would effectively be useless.
  • Every Xbox One would come with a Kinect motion sensor.
  • The Xbox One cost $500 at launch, $100 more than the PlayStation 4.
…these things have been rectified now(if fact the Xbox One is now considerably cheaper than the PS4)…
Maybe it was the fact that Sony just had more games for their system than Microsoft did at launch, and even after launch Sony’s exclusive titles still the spot light time after time after time. Excluding raw power, being backward compatible and it’s connection with the Windows OS(letting you play for a game once and play it on PC and the Xbox), the PlayStation wins in every other department that really matters. So, if you still can’t see why you need a PS4 or maybe you are thinking, “I’ll get it next year”, here are 5 Reasons Why 2018 is the Best Time To Buy A PS4.

It’s All About The Games

Ps4 exclusives. Reasons to get a Ps4 in 2018

PlayStation are the place to be if you wanna play those mouth watering, jaw dropping exclusives – Fact. But, it is also true that since most players have a PlayStation 4, most of your friends that are playing online will be using a PlayStation 4. So, even if you are into cross platform games like Call of Duty : Black Ops 4 the PS4 is still the place to be. That aside, the caliber of exclusive titles dropping on the PS4 this year are unlike any other year before. Games like God of War, Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn and Shadow of Colossus(Remake) and even the ones that haven’t been released like Marvel’s Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us II and Death Stranding are games you definitely do not want to miss.
A new game(exclusive to PS4), Detroit : Become Human is releasing on the 25th of May and is reported to take about 10 hrs for a single play through. But the thing is the game has multiple story paths where whatever choice you make shapes how the story goes. And the game has about 60 different story paths…talk about replay value.

Developers Are Leaving The Old Gen Behind

Ps3. Reasons to buy at ps4

It’s no news that many companies no longer develop games for the PS3 and Xbox 360 anymore but recently 2 games, Pro Evolution Soccer and FIFA, who have always tried to keep supporting those consoles will not be supporting it this year. What that means is that if you want play PES 19, you’ll have to get a PS4, an Xbox One or a fairly powerful PC. You might as well get a PS4 since that’s what everyone else will be using. This actually matters for the people who are really into online and coop matches. Speaking of PES 19, make sure to check out our article on What PES Needs to Do to Finally Crush FIFA. Presently, there are no major games being developed for the old gen and sooner than later all the servers for PS3 games will be shut down. It’s been been 5 year, it’s time to say goodbye.

Make Some Money

Make money reasons to buy ps4

The PS4 doesn’t have to be a just gaming system for you. I did some research and it turns out that if you are looking at starting a YouTube gaming channel, using a PS4 is the easiest and cheapest way to go. Things like the PS4 allowing you to record up to 30mins of gameplay(Xbox One maxes out at 5mins) and having an onboard video editor(Share Factory) so you don’t have to do extensive…but better…editing on your PC and then allowing you to share directly to your YouTube channel from the PS4 are really cost effective since all you need is a PS4 and great content to start making money.
Another way of getting some money back is to sell games that you don’t play anymore to other PS4 players. It’s much easier to find a PS4 player to sell to than an Xbox One owner since alot of people play on the PS4 these days.

No New Iterations

Ps4 versions reasons to buy a ps4

The PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro were welcome variationss to those people that needed it and it was for also great for the people who hadn’t gotten a PS4 yet and just needed the original system. The thing is every time another version came out the original PS4’s price dropped slightly and now, since there’s definitely not going to be any more variations of the system, the price is at the lowest it’s gonna to get unless you are willing to wait for another console generation to come out so you can buy the PS4 at a cheaper price (but then you’ll just be in the situation the PS3 guys are in right now). And that leads me to my last point.

The End Is Sooner Than You Think

Ps5. Reasons to get a ps4 in 2018

The PlayStation CEO said in a tweet that the PlayStation is entering the end of it’s life cycle and though this might seem like a problem for those of us who are just getting a PS4, it’s actually not the that bad. Here’s why
PS4 life cycle endingThe PlayStation has a huge roster of beautiful games that you wouldn’t have played if you are a just getting the console and once a new console generation comes in those games will get a significant price drop so that even when they stop supporting the PS4 (probably 4 years into the PS5 reign), you still have so many games to go back and play. And the truth is, a PS5 is still about 2-3 years into the future so you still have plenty of time to enjoy your new console.

Games on the PS4 need to be played now because if Sony follows the same path they chose with the PS4 and does not make the console backwards compatible, you’ll be missing out on so many games.

So let me know what you think in the comments section. Is getting a PS4 now too late or does this console still have some fire in it. Remember to share and like if you enjoyed the post and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more articles like this.
